Abstract of The Influence of the Not Too Young to Run Campaign on Instagram & Twitter on Youths’ Participation in the 2019 Electoral Process in Nigeria

The study examined the influence of the Not too Young to Run campaign on Instagram & Twitter on youths’ participation in the 2019 electoral process in Nigeria. The study employed the survey design and the purposive sampling technique to select 450 staff across management, senior and junior level. A well-constructed questionnaire, which was adjudged valid and reliable, was used for collection of data from the respondents. The data obtained through the administration of the questionnaires was analyzed using the Pearson analysis.

The results revealed that: The level of engagement of youths in the not too young to run campaign on twitter and instagram is high. There is a factor inhibiting Nigerian youths from participating actively in the electoral process. The extent the not too young to run bill influenced the Nigerian youths’ in becoming candidates in the forthcoming elections is positive. The relationship between the activity of the not too young to run campaign on twitter and instagram and the level of youths participation in the 2019 electoral process is positive.

The study hereby concluded that the Not too Young to Run campaign on Instagram & Twitter has influence on the youths’ participation in the 2019 electoral process in Nigeria. The study suggested; The youths should engagement themselves more in the not too young to run campaign on twitter and instagram is high; Youths should support themselves and vote a competent one of there own; Youth should fight money-bag politics with dedication and rejection of bribes from the old politicians which is a factor inhibiting Nigerian youths from participating actively in the electoral process; Youth should make the not too young to run campaign on twitter and instagram count more by subscribing and campaign for of the serious and relevant youth
