Over the past decades the state education boards have begun including guidance and counselling in their curriculum at primary and secondary school levels. In fact, guidance and counselors have been posted in many government owned primary and secondary schools and private schools encouraged to do same. The educational system has moved from where educationists try to make the child totally fit into an established disciplined behavior while anything out of this isn’t given attention.

This change in policy of education has come about through the realization that the child’s behaviour deeply affect his academic performances and consequently how much he or she can achieve academically. Every other factors that go into the formation of the child and determine his or her performance comes after the child’s determination to overcome.

Therefore, understanding the factors behind the child’s behaviour will prove very resourceful in understanding the child’s behaviour and his or her attitude to learning which informs his performances.
